Neckom Building
Neckom offices and showroom is situated at the very special location marking the entrance to the city of Niksic, Montenegro. Flanked by the beautiful and dramatic landscape of stone hills, the site is exposed and highly visible, so the new object had to be inserted in a very delicate way.
Containing several different functions in its compact form and 2300 sqm of floor area, the object acts like a new representational space of the firms headquarters, an exhibition space for products, a big specialized shop and also a space for different events like presentations or exhibitions of local artist.
The object is composed of three parts the frontal transparent volume, the connection part, and the volume of big exhibition and retail areas. The first part is a three-story concrete and glass structure containing the entrance area on the ground floor, the presentations and exhibitions area, on the first floor, and the office space on the second floor. It is facing the main street, opening its interiors to passengers sight, partly reflecting back the image of the surroundings. The second part, the main communication area for the visitors, only consumes a narrow strip of the plan. It acts like a joint space between the areas of different characters, bringing a daily light in the middle of the building space.
The third part of the building consists of a retail space on the ground floor and a combined exhibition-and-retail space on the first floor. The north-oriented linear roof windows generously provide the exhibition area with daylight, making the edges of its white interior softly blurred. Among the other sustainability measures, a cool roofing system is implemented, as well as a good orientation of the volumes and distribution of the openings, additional thermal insulation, a properly designed ventilation system, etc
