Head office of the Association of Catalan Architects of Tarragona
The building is located on a plot where the old structures of two ancient houses remain, the house of Canonge Canals and the house of the Archdeacon.
Priority is given to the programmatic and urban requirements of the new institution, keeping the street alignments and leaving a garden in front of the new building, through which the entrance takes place. The new building is placed on top of the remains of the Archdeacon's house, which determines the design and distribution of the basement floor. Thus, the archaeological remains are preserved and respected, but they are understood as living elements that participate in the design of the new building, both in terms of their support and the dimensioning of the elements of the new program.
