Town Hall Tynaarlo
Tynaarlo is the name of a municipality that was created by combining various small villages. Its new town hall is not located in one of the centres that constitute Tynaarlo, but rather outside them, in the sloping landscape of the province of Drenthe. The building stands out like a jewel in this luxurious natural environment. It has the appeal that usually only the headquarters of large corporations offer, but rarely public buildings certainly not in the Netherlands. Thanks to the underground car park, the idyll of a radiant building among the green is not disrupted by parked cars.
The transparent building is located above the underground car park, with the council chamber on the ground floor and the offices above it. The top floor features the representative work areas of the town councillors, but also the canteen, so that the view is democratically divided.
The location, the architectural expression and the sharp details make the building a celebration of public governance.
