Barcelona International Convention Centre
The Barcelona International Convention Centre consists of a large hall of 15,000m2 (161,500 sq.ft.) with an 80m (262 ft) span that can be subdivided and a separate service annexe giving on to the sea. The hall is both structure and abstraction; the annexe talks to both sea and sky. The unyielding structure is the basic score. The weather, light (and its counterpart: shade), sound (and its counterpart: silence) are the strains. The flow of both people and fluids (not so different), the crowds and the architecture that emerges and (often) vanishes among them.
