House and Workshop of a Sculptor and an Artist

The plot is located on a slope of a hill at the outskirts of the village Dali. The plot is planned to be divided in 7 elongated pieces as the number of its owners.

The project accommodates a moderate house with a sitting and a dining room, a kitchen, three bedrooms and a workshop.
All the spaces face the north in order to enjoy the magnificent view towards the valley and the mountains of Pendadaktylos, but still get the beneficial sunrays of the south.

At the level of the ground the spaces are located accordingly the slope of the hill. The workshop occupies the lowest level of the building, partly buried in the ground. Between the volume of the kitchen, dining and sitting areas and of the workshop a courtyard is organized which is covered by the hanging volume of the bedrooms.
The workshop has a variation of heights and an indirect natural illumination which will enhance the creativity and the productivity of the sculptor and the artist.
The sitting area faces north and with its high ceiling provides the kitchen and the dining area an interrupted view to the mountains. A skylight over the dining space provides the sitting area the direct light of the south during the winter period.
The east elevation is protected by free standing concrete louvers. The slits to the west elevation, provide the refreshing summer breeze and state the marvelous sunset inside the house

A variation of external spaces is created accordingly to their function: a veranda which is part of the workshop, the courtyard which is the main recreation area directly connected to the sitting area, an open space to the south with domestic functions and a belvedere at the roof of the workshop. All the exterior and interior spaces are connected with a continuous flow of movements inside and outside of the building.
The building tries to signify the beauty of the landscape, been part of it and becoming a landscape by itself, and to reflect the character of its use and its users. Besides it tends to revise the sacred aura of its surrounding which is rich of ancient ruins.
The structure is mainly reinforced concrete. The building is of low cost materials.
