Summerhouse - Gata
The house is build in to a west orientated hill of the mountain Midfell in southern part of Iceland. The task was to design a house which would fall in to the surrounding nature and to creating a beauty spot to enjoy the magnificent surrounding view.
The house is a concrete house cast on side with wooden roof. The back side is covered with earth and the roof with grass. The front side is mostly glass. The large terrace and the extension of the roof is for wind and sun protection and to create place for outdoor use. The terrace is covered with basalt tiles from the neighborhood and the walls covered with stones from the mountain. The house is heated up with geothermal water
