Lake House

The weekend house is situated at the north-east banks of the Dam Lake Domaša, which is an attractive destination of Eastern Slovakia. The ground-plot of the total area of 1000 m² is of trapezoidal, its south-western border is formed by the bank of the dam lake, forest access road forms its north-eastern border. The programme the client required was minimal and the specifications of comfort were determined understanding the function of the cottage as a building used for occasional and short stays. As an avid fisherman, the client felt the need to create conditions for his hobby as well as creation of conditions for water sports. Another requirement was creation of a terrace at the closest to the water -level for gathering with friends. The organisation of the programme is designed as linear what results in the trapezoidal ground plan, where in the narrow orthogonal area there are three rooms situated, forming night use area.

The day use area is located in the extending part of the trapezoidal ground plan. The extension of the ground plan enables spatial enlargement and rampant sloping level of roofing gives space height and adequate spatial parameters. The living lounge opens with its generous glazing into terrace. The rooms of the night use area identically open with vertical perforations and have direct access to the partly roofed terrace. The outer shell of the cottage with the exception of its south-west facade is a solid box substantiated by dark titanium-zinc sheet on the roof as well as the facades. The south-west facade - the "face" of the building facing the water-level is designed as a combination of glazed areas and wooden panelling with wooden shutters. The building of the cottage is complemented by landscaping - supporting stone wall that integrates storage.
