Football Stadium and Multipurpose Sportshall, Sports Park Stozice
The Sports Park Stoice combines a football stadium and a multipurpose sportshall with a large shopping centre, covered by a recreational park.
The football stadium for 17,000 spectators is a small stadium. To create an intimate atmosphere and enable maximum intensity of the game experience, the spectators are as close to the pitch as possible. The stands are covered with a deep black steel roof with an emphasised white grid in order to create the sensation of an interior space.
The roof becomes the distinguishing element of the stadium. In the wider environment of the sports park, it functions as a shallow crater rising from the plane of the sports park.
The compact volume of the 12.500 seats multipurpose sports hall, whose interior volume has the shape of a giant bowl, enables events to be experienced in the best possible way. The dome, which at the same time is the roof and the facade, determines the interior volume and the exterior shape of the hall with an oval court.

The dome terminates in an eave above the exterior perimeter walkway. Its scalloped edge regularly opens into large eye shaped windows, which connect the interior of the hall with the space of the park. The interior circulation of the building is done by means of perimeter corridors with the large openings allowing daylight to enter inside. Eighteen staircases enable the hall to empty in eight minutes.
Due to the concentration of various spontaneous and programmed activities, as well as sports and entertainment events attracting people of all ages and interests both during the daytime and in the evenings, the Sports Park Stoice becomes an area of everybodys life in Ljubljana.
