Main program elements: open pool 34.5 m x 23 m, pool tank, stands, gym, changing rooms, 800 seats, administration
The concept emerge due the imperative of taking into account many constraints: size and function of harbor, elevation of existing coastal promenade, collective memory of the town, program requirements, etc. Main program elements: pool tank, stands, gym, changing rooms, etc. are positioned beneath the level of the most important ambient factor of the town - Pet Danica promenade. Breathtaking vistas on the bay entrance and settlements across are retained. Position of that section and its form came out from the need of opening the vistas and horizons and achieving the high degree of the formal reciprocity with the existing buildings around the harbor. The motif of multicolored doors of fisherman lockers beneath the promenade adjacent to the pool, was transposed on the façade beneath the stands - which enhanced vitality of this part of town and the continuity of the public communication around the pool.
Mediterranean climate allows the usage of the pool almost year-round and low consumption of energy. The additional tempering of pool water is obtained from the sea thermal energy.
