Furniture Showroom “Binni”

Created with highly detailed textures from bold materials, the latest facility of Binni in Pristina,Kosovo, strives to be a representation of the quality products that they have been manufacturing since 1990.Surrounded by plants growing on the side of the roads, the facility is large, with a cuboid structure with different intersections.

The building is sited on an irregular,grass-covered rectangular lot at the corner of the Pristina-Ferizaj road and the Pristina to Graçanice, this five story building is located in one of the most popular roads in Pristina for commercial use,it’s location is very specific because it’s surrounded by two roads 1 primary and 1 secondary which make it easy accessible from the primary high speed road. Styled by Archides with striking elements such as marble and sleek floor slates, the interior gives an industrial feel while maintaining the elegant vibe throughout. The spaces are well lit through lamps, pendant and wall-mounted LEDs, accentuating the daring
black and white theme with touches of olive green nuances. The reaction of the building regarding the terrain of the lot is in creating the subterranean which creates more dynamic space for the showroom. The materials that we used are natural stone which shows the strength of building and the company it represents.

The biggest problems on this project were the stereotypes about the ‘typical’ showroom look and feel. One of our problems were that the client thought that the showroom needed to have big windows, our strategy was to use facts and modern showroom projects to show that big windows are not necessary in furniture showrooms. The problem took a long time to finish because of the problems with the lot in the first stages of the building because the lot ground had a lot of water and it needed special treatment to remove the water.

Construction has a safety function, to provide sun protection and absorb sound. The building construction is made of reinforced concrete.
The façade has natural ventilation and its a clean natural quartzite stone that is characterized by some slight shade variation.
Quartzite is high resistent to temperature changes and it helps to create a pleasant indoor climate, as they store heat and cool air. On hot summer day they have a cooling effect while in winter, the walls offer warmth and require less energy for heating and is a clean natural material that doesn't impact the environment.
